I have been playing around with the new Nikon Coolpix camera and I have had quite a few disasters. I keep on cutting off the dogs ears as I press the button down the camera moves down and the poor dog is minus his ears 
Here is one which worked out quite well. I was standing far away so this is a long distance shot.
I hope to get the hang of it soon.

Instead of pressing the button down, try to just squeeze it. That way the camera won’t move.
I have tried that then it focuses and does not take the photo.

It takes awhile to get the camera to stop bossing you around and you be the boss of the camera. Just enjoy playing with it and snap lots and lots of pictures

My camera moves downward, too, but very slightly. I wonder if that lessens clarity of the shot. Your pics are pretty, though.
Thank you, in some shots it does affect clarity I am working on steadying my coordination. Did you see my previous post?
