“THE truck drivers’ strike, which cost the road freight industry R1.2 billion daily and caused employees to lose R271 million in wages, was officially called off yesterday.”
A wage deal has finally been agreed upon which has brought the truck drivers’ strike to an end.
This is happy news for all of us. Supermarkets were running short of stock and the company where I work had to pay “bonuses” to the drivers to pursuade them to make deliveries.
Hopefully everyone will go back to work now and peace will be restored.
Hello 😉
All the strikes at the moment are absolutely ridiculous. As workers, I guess they do have an argument for striking but at least do it in a civilised manner then. At least they’ve stopped now, now we just need the other industries to follow suit
Yes, we have enough crime we don’t need plundering and violence on people who need to work.
Thank Goodness!
I agree with TA.
*hugs*
There were numerous trucks on the N3 on Friday when I travelled to the Midlands. It made for very slow, safe driving as it was drizzly and misty.
I hope it is truly over now.
And I hope peace will remain! I know you must be very relieved! Here’s to a much better week. D
Yes indeed, great relief and I hope it is safe on the roads today for all.
Until these pumpkins who caused damage are not brought to book and the unions as well, things will not get better for anyone. I hate what they do and think they are economic terrorists.
I agree, strikes should be illegal.
And the stupid savages – and I include that trade union spokesman who seems to have originated in UK where he should have stayed – just don’t realise that they have all come out of it worse off than when they started. Well, for a few months they may think otherwise, but then the impact will rebound on them, too. Unfortunately, so will it on the rest of us.
The miners are still striking – strike season is not over by a long shot!
I wonder if the municipal workers are going to strike too?
I’m glad it ended. That was one scary event. I know it cost a lot but I guess sometimes we have to go to the extremes to be heard. I’m just happy that everyone went to work and got was they hoped for. Great post!
