Dad passed away in 2002 and Mom passed away in 2021. We had the privilege or misfortune (depending on your preference when it comes to interior design) of these items in our home as we were growing up. My intention is to create several posts on this topic – if there is enough interest.

In the 1990’s our parents eagerly enjoyed going to auctions of small house hold items and I believe these wire bicycles were included in job lots they had bought.

Mom did some sewing. She was very good at it but did not really enjoy doing it often. Mainly alterations of curtains and a few casual tops was about all she did in later years. After I finished high school, when I just started job hunting, mom would make me suits with collars and button holes and skirts with zips. This is impressive to me because honestly I am useless when it come to sewing.

Grandma also did some sewing on her Singer sewing machine.

If you want to check the age of a vintage Singer sewing machine you can Google the number on the plate, to find the age.

It was amazing all the things you could get at the auctions then. Flea markets were so popular in the 1990’s but it has changed it is no longer like that. Below is a photo of some of the sewing machine attachments and parts our mom collected which she mainly got from auctions.

If this post of vintage stuff was of interest to you or if you have a fond childhood memory or collect stuff like this please leave a comment.

(PLEASE NOTE NONE OF THE ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE)
